SAN FRANCISCO, CA - GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (GWOS http://www.gwos.com), the leader in commercial open source systems and network management software, today announced general availability of GroundWork Monitor Enterprise 6.3. The latest release of GWOS’ flagship product GroundWork Monitor provides new capabilities for customers running complex infrastructure who need to visualize their IT operations and performance from a business perspective.

This release enables customers to create customized views of their processes and infrastructure that reflect the current health and performance of the whole environment. By visualizing key business operations in this way IT staff can efficiently keep customers and executives up-to-date on day-to-day operations. This capability, previously developed by GWOS partner Super-Visions BVBA (http://www.super-visions.com) and based on the NagVis open source project has been deployed by IT organizations in many countries to diagnose performance bottlenecks before they impact business operations.

“We have been successful in helping many companies realize their goal of linking IT operations to business objectives through clear diagrams and visualization as well as offering operational teams immediate root-cause analysis functionality,” says Maarten Loose, partner at Super-visions. “By including these features now by default in GroundWork Monitor Enterprise Release 6.3, this benefit is accessible to all GWOS subscribers around the globe.”

In addition, Release 6.3 includes enhanced capabilities for monitoring large-scale networks through the inclusion of the Cacti network data collection project. “This change complements the existing data collection mechanisms already included in GWOS Monitor and enables customers to effectively monitor their entire IT infrastructure from server, network, application and user perspectives with a single solution,” said Simon Bennett, Sr. Director of Product Management for GWOS. “This release continues our commitment to adding additional product features for our Flex subscription at no additional cost.”

Features in GroundWork Monitor Enterprise 6.3 include:

  • Audible alarms for events provides operators with a second communication channel so they can effectively multi-task when triaging and diagnosing alarms.
  • New dashboard options including new filtering options for customizing views.
  • Improved Java support for monitoring applications using the Oracle Weblogic 10 environment.
