Red Hat Supports GroundWork

March 14, 2007 - 1:18 pm

I just got back from Red Hat’s worldwide launch of RHEL 5. They rented a theatre in downtown SF’s Metreon for the introduction and flew out the big honchos from North Carolina for the launch and lunch.

Red Hat also announced a new online marketplace called Red Hat Exchange or RHX for short, which goes live later this year. RHX is a single source for research, purchase, online fulfillment and support of open source and other commercial software business application stacks.

And GroundWork is one of a handful of partners selected to kickoff this new RHX venture with Red Hat. We were chosen, according to Red Hat, because of our market leadership, quality solutions focused at the mid-market, and our vision of how open source offerings can solve customer problems.

Mike Evans, Red Hat’s VP of Corporate Development, said that Red Hat is creating RHX so customers can have a single place to shop for quality, tested, and supported open source solutions that offer superior value. This gives Red Hat customers a seamless, high quality experience from a leading, trusted vendor.

Given Red Hat’s leadership with Linux, I actually believe that with RHX, Red Hat is in a position to become the Amazon of open source software.

We’re certainly excited to be a part of that ecosystem!

RHX goes live later this year: here’s the URL for more info:
