Michael Brooding, Director of Finance

Director of Finance, Michael Brooding, oversees finance and administration functions at GroundWork. Michael brings over 20 years of financial experience ranging from both fortune 500 to venture backed companies. Prior to GroundWork, he performed independent consulting services with companies in various industries including Insurance, IT Management, Software and Healthcare industries. The consulting services included managing finance and administration functions, merging and consolidating financial operations, leading Sarbanes-Oxley compliance initiatives and assisted in the closing of several VC financing rounds.

Brooding previously was Finance Director for SPL Worldgroup where he reorganized the global revenue recognition process and developed process efficiencies to improve cash flow and timeliness and accuracy of the monthly financial reporting.

Michael holds a MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University a BA in Economics from UCSB and is CPA and CMA.

 

Alan Cooke, Vice President of Global Field And Channel Operations

Cooke brings over two decades of experience in sales and leadership to GroundWork. He previously served as Vice President of Worldwide Field & Channel Operations for Vormetric, a leading provider of security solutions for protecting sensitive enterprise data from unauthorized access and theft. Prior to Vormetric, Mr. Cooke was Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Actional, the leader in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Management, Monitoring and Security software. Cooke helped lead his team to a 400% increase in revenue from 2004 to 2006, which contributed significantly to the acquisition of Actional by Progress Software.

Prior to Actional, Cooke held senior sales leadership positions at a number of web-based technology companies including Datasweep and Bidcom, where his teams consistently exceeded sales quotas and contributed to aggressive company growth. Cooke doubled revenues to $21 million over the span of two years at Datasweep and grew revenue from subscription licenses to more than $6 million from $500,000 in only two years at Bidcom, which later merged with a major competitor as a result of his contributions. He arrived at both positions with a reputation for exceeding sales quotas, built IntelliCorp, Boeing Computer Services and Sybase, where he led senior sales leadership quotas ranging from $7 to $100 million dollars and helped grow the company to over $1 billion from $160 million. Cooke has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University and studied at Wroxton College.

 

David Lilly, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

David Lilly is Co-Founder and CEO of GroundWork, bringing more than 30 years of engineering and management experience. Prior to founding GroundWork, Lilly co-founded SiteROCK, a provider of remote monitoring and IT management services, and CapTech Partners, a company formed to provide seed capital and consulting to promising technology ventures. Previously, Lilly co-founded software companies concerned with supply chain optimization, image processing, and industrial automation.

Lilly began his career in the United States Navy, where he qualified as Chief Engineer for naval nuclear propulsion plants. He also led two emergency engineering teams at Three Mile Island.

Lilly holds an MBA from Rutgers University and a B.S. in International Relations from the United States Naval Academy.

 

Bob McKee, Vice President of Product Management

Bob McKee is the vice president of product management and brings more than 20 years of marketing, product marketing/management experience to his role at GroundWork Open Source. He has successfully brought to market numerous enterprise products in a variety of technology areas including internet appliances, security, storage, graphics, and multimedia.

Bob most recently served as Vice President of Product Management at Solidcore Systems, a provider of control management solutions for IT. Previous to Solidcore, Bob served as VP of Marketing at piXlogic, a provider of image search technology; and Director of Marketing at Zambeel, a provider of network attached storage solutions.

Bob held marketing management positions of increasing responsibility and scope during his dozen years at Sun Microsystems, including launching the highly successful Netra line of internet appliances. He started his career in engineering at CADAM, a subsidiary of Lockheed developing CAD/CAM software. Bob earned his MBA at Carnegie Mellon University and his BS in computer engineering at University of Michigan.

 

Tara Spalding, Vice President of Marketing

Tara Spalding is Vice President of Marketing of GroundWork, bringing over a decade of marketing experience to GroundWork, and is known as a marketing pioneer for commercial open source applications.

Most recently, Tara was the Vice President of Corporate Marketing at SugarCRM, the leading commercial open source Customer Relationship Management solution. As the first employee of SugarCRM, Tara led SugarCRM to market dominance from scratch via innovative community and corporate programs, ultimately resulting in SugarCRM being the undisputed open source leader in its category.

Prior to SugarCRM, Tara specialized in online promotions, lead generation and web site design and usability with E.piphany and Edify. Tara began her career with E&J Gallo Winery working in sales and domestic marketing, and holds a BS in Business from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

 

Stuart Thompto, Vice President of Engineering

Vice President of Engineering, Stuart Thompto, oversees the development of all products and product development strategies for all of GroundWork's IT management solutions.

Stuart brings over 20 years of engineering experience from some notable companies such as JasperSoft Corporation, Sony Music Entertainment and Sybase. He most recently served as the Vice President of Engineering at JasperSoft who is the leading commercial open source provider of business intelligent solutions. There he built an open source engineering team in Europe. Prior to JasperSoft, he was the Vice President of Engineering at ListenPoint. Previously, he served as the Vice President of Engineering for Sony Music Entertainment where he created a common e-commerce platform for all Sony Music's web properties. Thompto has also held executive engineering positions at Intraware, Xpede, CrossWorlds, Sybase, and Arix Corporation.

Thompto holds a BA in Mathematics at the University of Colorado.
