GroundWork Monitor is able to run on most virtualization platforms currently available including VMware ESX/ESXi, RedHat KVM, Xen and Hyper-V. Many current GroundWork customers have chosen to deploy parts of their monitoring infrastructure on top of these technologies.
GroundWork Monitor can optionally be deployed within the Amazon EC2 cloud on several Linux distributions by using the standard installation bundle. In addition, GroundWork's System Administrator training courses are held using the Amazon platform for hands-on labs and demonstrations.

GroundWork Monitor Enterprise includes a standardized monitoring profile for VMware ESX that enables monitoring and performance measurement of the following attributes:
For each guest system:
- CPU utilization
- Memory utilization
- Network I/O
For each ESX server:
- Liveness test
- Available memory and percentage used
- Console memory usage
- Total memory
- Count of system processes
- Count of logged in ESX users
- Total CPU utilization
- Total network I/O
- Server uptime
