GroundWork Network Management Suite (NMS) adds popular open source network management tools to GroundWork Monitor Enterprise.
For Flex subscribers, beginning with Release 6.3, the Traffic Graphing Module (based on cacti) is included in the base GroundWork Monitor Enterprise product.
Depending upon your needs, select from one to all three of these optional modules:
- Protocol Analysis Module (based on ntop) — Breaks down network usage by protocol, application, port, operating system, etc.
- Network Map Module (based on Network Weathermap) — Provides a high-level view of the entire network infrastructure.
- Network Discovery Module (based on NeDi) — Locates network infrastructure devices, such as switches and routers, and alerts you to network changes.
As a GroundWork NMS subscriber, you'll receive professional technical support and updates for the modules. Hands-on training for NMS is available from GroundWork University.
NMS Modules
Use the modules individually or together to augment network monitoring and visualization.
Protocol Analysis Module — Monitors network traffic information simultaneously from multiple probes
- Displays network usage data (bandwidth usage, protocols, applications, ports, address, etc.) and saves traffic statistics for long-term trend analysis
- Tracks actual, average, and peak bandwidth using Netflow/ sFlow data from routers and switches
- Determines the operating system and identity of network nodes and users, while helping you spot unauthorized point-to-point communication
Network Map Module — Displays a graphical map of your network traffic status
- Color-codes network usage levels and displays utilization and status of network, including LAN and WAN connections
- Provides wide-area network map with drill-downs to network segments
- Integrates with Protocol Analysis and Traffic Graphing modules to help you analyze underlying causes of network traffic problems
Network Discovery Module — Discovers network topology and generates a device inventory
- Notifies you when new network components are found, when known network components are not discovered, or when expected devices are missing
- Reduces false alarms among related devices by identifying and updating network dependencies
- Captures and stores changes to network device configurations at each run
