DassMonarch SOAP

BY DASS IT

The PERL API and SOAP Interface enhances GroundWork's configuration component 'monarch' by a remote interface. Using this SOAP interface you can configure most common things using any SOAP client. This lets you combine any existing tool with Monarch. For example: Use your existing CMDB (Configuration Management Database) in order to automatically create hosts and services in GroundWork via the SOAP interface.

About dassmonarch SOAP interface and PERL API

The product consists of two components:

  1. Dassmonarch: A PERL API for GroundWork's Monarch configuration tool. By using this PERL API locally on your GroundWork server, you can develop your own PERL scripts to change most common configuration items of the GroundWork/Nagios system. This includes hostimport, service assignments to hosts, trigger a preflight check or even do a commit. The PERL API is published under GPL.
  2. SOAP Dassmonarch: The SOAP interface for dassmonarch uses PERL API and lets you change most common configuration items of a GroundWork system remotely using any SOAP client.

Customers using dassmonarch:

INFONline uses PERL API

  • to automatically import hosts and services from their own configuration database
  • to implement an active-active – like clustering of two GroundWork Monitor Enterprise servers in different data centers

A satellite communication provider in the USA uses dassmonarch SOAP interface in order to regularly update their GroundWork configuration according to changes in their own configuration and customer database. A few hundred hosts are configured and updated frequently.
