GWOS And Virtualization
GroundWork Monitor works with all major virtualization solutions including VMware ESX, ESXi, vSphere, KVM and Xen. Approximately half of our customers deploy GroundWork Monitor Enterprise in conjunction with one of these virtualization solutions.
Our monitoring profile for VMware ESX, ESXi and vSphere (included with GroundWork Monitor Enterprise Edition package) provides the following monitoring metrics:
For each Guest VM:
- CPU utilization
- Memory utilization
- Network I/O
For each ESX server:
- Liveness test
- Available memory and percentage used
- Console memory usage
- Total memory
- Count of system processes
- Count of logged in ESX users
- Total CPU utilization
- Total network I/O
- Server uptime
The profile utilizes the native interface provided by VMware, and does not require an agent to be installed on each ESX server.
