Senior Systems Engineer

GroundWork Open Source is a venture-backed software company offering enterprise-class IT management solutions based on open source software. The company has 50 employees and is based in San Francisco, CA.
GroundWork is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to work with our customers and field engineering group as a solutions architect.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Field Engineering team as a technical resource for delivery of GroundWork products and services
- Spend significant time in front of the customers understanding their issues and designing GroundWork monitoring solutions
- Work as the technical liaison between customers, GroundWork field engineers and development
- Develop processes and procedures to facilitate uniform service delivery that is repeatable and that exceeds service level agreements
- Discover and integrate open source solutions with GroundWork and customer systems
- Program code to integrate disparate systems to produce customer solutions
Requirements:
- Multiple OS-capable and experience with UNIX varieties
- Network administrator-capable and able to fix IOS, SNMP, LAN and WAN problems
- Knowledge of RHCE
- Significant experience on large distributions like Novell, Debian, SuSE
- Programming background: scripting > 5000 line programs, with Perl , C, Java or similar
- 10-year industry veteran
- Systems programming: able to diagnose process, thread, inter-process communication and networking issues
- Application experience with large scale applications like Citrix, Unicenter, OpenView, Exchange, Oracle, SAP, etc.
- Apache, Java, and other web tools capability
- Software engineering background, CS degree or EE preferred
- Knowledge of Nagios a plus
