GWOS Announces GroundWork Monitor Cloud Connector for Eucalyptus

Application monitoring for Eucalyptus and Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud (UEC) based private clouds

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—June 23, 2010—GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (GWOS http://www.gwos.com), the leader in commercial open source systems and network management software, today announced GroundWork Monitor Cloud Connector for Eucalyptus. The Cloud Connector combines application and cloud health monitoring for Eucalyptus and UEC-based private clouds.

GWOS' new Cloud Connector extends the application availability and performance measurement capabilities across the traditional datacenter and private clouds, while preserving the single-pane of glass needed to run efficient and proactive IT operations.

The new Cloud Connector provides cloud topology discovery and automatic monitoring of cloud instances based on best practice monitoring profiles. Users can customize these profiles according to their specific application metrics for consistent and universal monitoring coverage.

The Cloud Connector also provides insight into available cloud capacity – a critical metric for IT operations moving to on-demand infrastructure. By leveraging capacity information from the Cloud Connector operations, teams can manage the supply closer to end-user demands, improving the overall hardware utilization rates and lowering expenses.

"Automation and monitoring are the #1 and #2 challenges businesses face when implementing flexible private clouds," said Simon Bennett, Senior Director of Product Management for GWOS. "The Cloud Connector combines our proven monitoring automation capabilities with open cloud APIs to address these needs."

"By adding application and host monitoring to cloud computing management, Persistent Systems has a better understanding of the services in which the private cloud renders," said Girish Katdare, senior project manager, cloud and SaaS competency, Persistent Systems Ltd. "GWOS Cloud Connector allowed us to expand our existing Eucalyptus cloud offering, enabling us to utilize our high end resources more efficiently and ensuring that our managed services customers will ultimately have better service." Persistent Systems has been a development partner of GWOS since 2007.
