Cooke helped lead his team to a 400% increase in revenue from 2004 to 2006, which contributed significantly to the acquisition of Actional by Progress Software.
“The traction that GroundWork Monitor is gaining in vertical markets such as higher education and financial services proves that the solution delivers great value for a wide range of enterprises,” said Cooke. “The growth that open source systems management, and GroundWork in particular, has seen in enterprise adoption indicates to me that the benefits that these solutions have over proprietary offerings are finally being realized, and that the time is ripe for further adoption.”
"I am delighted that Alan has joined the GroundWork team; the combination of his domain expertise in systems management and his deep multi-channel distribution management experience is just what’s needed to drive GroundWork’s continuing rapid growth." said Dave Lilly, CEO and co-founder of GroundWork Open Source. Prior to Actional, Cooke held senior sales leadership positions at a number of web-based technology companies including Datasweep and Bidcom, where his teams consistently exceeded sales quotas and contributed to aggressive company growth. Cooke doubled revenues to $21 million over the span of two years at Datasweep and grew revenue from subscription licenses to more than $6 million from $500,000 in only two years at Bidcom, which later merged with a major competitor as a result of his contributions. He arrived at both positions with a reputation for exceeding sales quotas, built IntelliCorp, Boeing Computer Services and Sybase, where he led senior sales leadership quotas ranging from $7 to $100 million dollars and helped grow the company to over $1 billion from $160 million.
