SAN FRANCISCO—January 12, 2010— GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (GWOS, http://www.gwos.com), the leader in commercial open source systems and network management software, reports outstanding growth in 2009, increasing its customer base by 105 percent with the release of GroundWork Monitor 6.0 and doubling its GroundWork Monitor Enterprise subscription base with new Enterprise QuickStart and Flex Pricing.

In 2009, GWOS was the only open source vendor listed in Gartner‘s 2009 Magic Quadrant for IT Event Correlation and Analysis (ECA) amongst incumbents HP, IBM, BMC and Microsoft for its enterprise-class network, system and application monitoring solution. GWOS was also included as a sample vendor in the Gartner Hype Cycle for IT Operations Management. In the Hype Cycle, GWOS was referenced in both the Open Source Service Management Tools and IT Event Correlation and Analysis Tools categories.

“2009’s GroundWork Monitor 6.0 development delivered a highly flexible, modern user interface based on the JBoss Portal which proved to be monumental for doubling our customer base,” said Peter Jackson, CEO of GWOS. “Our 2010 initiatives expand upon the 6.0 platform focused on better user experience, cloud monitoring and delivering additional integration with other ITOM solution providers – which will quintuple our customer base.”

Additionally, GWOS launched MonitoringForge.org, the epicenter of all open source projects that relate to IT monitoring. As the first Website to provide a common community for core developers of IT monitoring, MonitoringForge was released on the belief that users can inspire an open standard and cross platform integration, so that network and systems monitoring tools becomes more efficient and less expensive. Since its launch in September, the MonitoringForge.org membership has grown to over 1,800 active participants who share more than 2,000 open source projects and plugins related to monitoring.
