GroundWork Open Source Appoints Peter Jackson as CEO

New Chief Executive Brings Publicly Traded Tech Company Success Record

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—March 3, 2009—GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in commercial open source systems and network management software, today announced that it has named Peter Jackson as President and CEO. Jackson brings more than 20 years of chief executive experience at both public and private technology companies, including Intraware, Dataflex and Granite Systems.

"The current economic environment is shining a bright light on the exorbitant prices traditional IT management vendors have been charging for decades," said Peter Jackson, CEO of GroundWork. "When combined with new IT purchasing habits, this creates a strong demand for commercial open source applications in enterprise environments. I look forward to leading GroundWork's efforts addressing these opportunities."

Prior to joining GroundWork, Jackson was President and CEO of Intraware, Inc, the premier provider of on-demand delivery solution since 1996. Keynote Intraware customers included IBM, Adobe, AutoDesk and EMC. Jackson took Intraware public, lead private funding rounds, grew the revenue to $100MM in sales and services, and eventually sold Intraware in January 2009. Previously, Jackson was the president and CEO of Dataflex, Inc, a full service systems integrator with revenues over $400MM, leading to its sale to Vanstar. Additionally, Peter was the CEO, President and Director of Granite Systems, Inc. which became one of the largest service and product suppliers for HP, Apple, IBM, Compaq and Microsoft.

“We are pleased that a seasoned executive with a history of industry disruption is joining GroundWork to further challenge the $5Bn IT Management sector with open source solutions. We anticipate great results with Peter’s focus on GroundWork’s community, customers and partners,” said Robin Vasan, Managing Director, Mayfield Fund.

“Peter Jackson is one of the most widely respected and experienced CEO’s in Silicon Valley. At Intraware, he created a new market category, a new business model, and after managing through a period of hyper-growth, led an initial public offering and then successfully piloted the company for nearly ten years. His expertise in software sales, packaging and distribution is without peer and he is exactly the high-energy leader that will ensure that GroundWork is successful for its customers, partners, community members and investors. We are extremely fortunate to have Peter take the reins of GroundWork at this time,” said Dave Lilly, GroundWork co-founder and former CEO, who will continue with the company as COO focusing on customer support, product development and service delivery.
