GroundWork Monitor Japanese

Press Release

Community Created GroundWork Monitor Japanese Generally Released to Address Growing Market Demand

Partners FUJITSU SSL and Praesentia leverage GroundWork's open source amalgamation strategy to provide localized product, sales, and support

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—November 18, 2008—GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in commercial open source systems and network management software, today announced that GroundWork Monitor Community and Professional Edition will be generally available to Japanese customers. The package incorporates a localized user interface, complete Japanese language documentation, the Japanese language version of Nagios, and is available with local support in Japan.

"GroundWork is excited by this development," said Dave Lilly, Founder and CEO of GroundWork Open Source. "The ease with which Praesentia was able to complete the localization of GroundWork Monitor is further testament to the openness and flexibility of our product. The market potential of a fully localized free open source product was key to attracting Praesentia to do the localization work. Praesentia has world class monitoring expertise, ensuring that our Japanese language editions provide technically accurate localization, not just translation of the user interface. Praesentia will also provide responsive, local language support for the Japanese market, as well."

GroundWork combines industry leading open source projects to create fully supported systems and network monitoring and management software. Over a dozen open source monitoring projects, including Nagios®, RRDTool, SNMPTT, and MySQL are integrated to form the core of GroundWork's product line. The result is a solution that is extensible, highly scalable, and has an unprecedented depth and breadth of coverage. Because of this approach constituent parts of the solution can be swapped for country-specific versions, such as the Japanese version of Nagios.

GroundWork's English language-based commercial software is already in use by major Japanese companies, including major finance company, electric power company, IT vendor, and media related company. GroundWork Monitor Japanese will be sold and supported by existing partners Fujitsu SSL and Praesentia. The code base of the software is not different than the English language edition which ensures a consistent experience regardless of language.

"A localized version of GroundWork Monitor is eagerly awaited by the Japanese market. We have seen significant interest from our installed base in the new version of the software," said Kunio Ieda, Managing Director of FUJITSU SSL. "The translation of the documentation and user interface will make the solution easier to use in Japan, and even those who are currently using GroundWork Monitor will be able to see benefits when it comes to support issues."

"Praesentia is proud to build upon a successful open source solution - such as GroundWork Monitor. GroundWork's products, solutions and licenses provide us with an easy development environment. With GroundWork's generous support, we have successfully completed the GroundWork Monitor Japanese version development which will address our current market demand." Shinji Hirose, CEO, Praesentia.
