GroundWork Launches Public Build Process for GroundWork Monitor Open Source Version 5

Unprecedented access gives developers ability to port and extend GroundWork Monitor Open Source

INTEROP, New York, September 19, 2006GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in open source-based IT operations management, today announced their Public Build process for their GroundWork Monitor Open Source IT infrastructure and networking monitoring solution. The Public Build allows users of *nix derived operating systems (such as Solaris or any Linux variant) to build GroundWork Monitor Open Source for their platform. In addition, GroundWork will support the packaging of builds into install packages, providing other users of the same platform with a one-step installation procedure.

The build process for GroundWork Monitor Open Source is freely available under the GNU General Public License (GPL) and downloadable from the GroundWork website at http://www.groundworkopensource.com/community/index.html or via SourceForge at http://sourceforge.net/projects/gwmos.

"Since its release as an .rpm installation package in March, thousands of people have downloaded and installed GroundWork Monitor Open Source, and the accompanying demand for Groundwork on Linux distributions has been phenomenal," said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork. "The public build makes it possible for any Linux user to build GroundWork Monitor Open Source, broadening the reach of our solution to a much wider audience. In addition, we're providing developers with the freedom to look under the hood of the platform, and customize it with an openness that they could never experience with a proprietary solution."

Through comprehensive integration of dozens of individual best-of-breed open source IT monitoring tools, GroundWork Monitor Open Source is providing world-class monitoring to organizations that previously couldn't afford it. GroundWork Monitor Open Source allows systems administrators to proactively manage and control their IT environment with no license hassles.

Even with the release of the Public Build process, GroundWork Monitor Open Source will continue to be available as an .rpm package for quick and easy installation on Red Hat, SuSE, and CentOS. Additionally, GroundWork Monitor Open Source provides a framework that makes it extremely easy for organizations to "plug-and-play" with additional monitoring and management technologies from the open source community, such as: NeDi, MRTG, RRDtool, ntop, Network Weathermap, Cacti, Ganglia and many more.
