GroundWork Taps Industry Experts to Fuel Next Phase of Growth
IT Operations Management and Open Source Industry Veterans Nora Denzel and Ali Jenab Join Advisory Board
San Francisco, CA — October 3, 2006 — GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in open source-based IT operations management, today announced that IT operations management and open source industry gurus Nora Denzel and Ali Jenab have joined the company's advisory board. Denzel was formerly the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Software Global Business Unit of Hewlett Packard. Ali Jenab is the President and CEO of VA Software Corporation, the online media, software, and e-commerce vendor responsible for such open source mainstays as Slashdot and SourceForge.
"In the initial phase of the company and product line, GroundWork introduced the industry's first open source alternative to proprietary network and IT infrastructure monitoring software," said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork Open Source. "Now GroundWork is taking that success and replicating it across the full scope of customers' IT operations management requirements. As open source changes the dynamics of this large, untapped market in IT management, GroundWork is thrilled to have two of the industry's foremost experts helping us lead the charge."
In their capacities on the GroundWork advisory board, Denzel and Jenab will leverage their respective expertise in IT operations management and open source to continue GroundWork's lead as the industry's most popular open source approach to IT management.
"I believe that open source is the next frontier in network and systems management software," said Denzel. "Savvy customers who realize the clear economic advantage over proprietary solutions also find it a compelling proposition to have an opportunity for customization and control over the way that they want to manage their own environment. And GroundWork is the vendor with the best platform, the broadest user base, and the best overall opportunity to steal market share as customers increasingly realize that there is an open source-based alternative that can free them from overly complex, expensive, proprietary management approaches."
Building on the success that GroundWork has already experienced providing a lower cost open source alternative to proprietary network monitoring systems, GroundWork will continue to challenge the "Big 4" proprietary products as it evolves its product line to encompass broader IT operations management functionality.
"There is a tremendous amount of innovation taking place today in the open source community around new approaches to IT operations management," said Jenab. "From day one, GroundWork has worked directly with these open source visionaries, supported many different open source approaches, and has also steadily contributing IT management innovation back to the community. As a result, this is the only vendor in the space that fully understands the spectrum of open source approaches to IT operations management, and pass along that cost savings and freedom of choice to its customers. I'm excited to be involved."
Hundreds of customers use GroundWork Monitor Professional to monitor their IT infrastructures, taking advantage of the latest open source innovations in a framework architected specifically for mid-market and enterprise line-of-business organizations. Additionally, thousands of organizations have downloaded GroundWork Monitor Open Source (http://www.groundworkopensource.com/products/os-overview.html) since its public release in February.
