Press Release

Nagios Enterprises and GroundWork Open Source Forge Strategic Partnership

Companies to work together on delivering enterprise-class solutions to customers worldwide

ST. PAUL, Minn. And SAN FRANCISCO—November 15, 2007—Nagios Enterprises (www.nagios.com), the commercial arm of Nagios, the world’s most popular open source host, service and network monitoring program, and GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in open source IT management software, today announced a joint partnership focused on joint market development and shared delivery of services around open source IT monitoring and management.

“Nagios Enterprises is pleased to collaborate with GroundWork Open Source,” said Nagios creator and lead developer Ethan Galstad. “Over the past 18 months, GroundWork has done some great things with Nagios in developing a comprehensive IT management solution, and Nagios Enterprises can now extend the joint value further with the new formalized working relationship.”

Under the terms of the joint partnership, Nagios Enterprises will soon offer tier three support for Nagios-related aspects of Groundwork Open Source. In addition, GroundWork Open Source and Nagios Enterprises will engage in various market development activities including cross-promotion via advertising, joint marketing efforts, and business referral opportunities.

“We’ve found that some customer deployments are focused primarily on monitoring, while others are focused on broader system management,” said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork Open Source. “Partnering like this allows each party to focus on their core competencies for the best time to value, namely, monitoring and broad system management and integration.”

Nagios is the world’s most popular open source monitoring solution currently monitoring more than three million services and 500,000 hosts globally. GroundWork Open Source is the revenue leader in bringing open source alternatives to proprietary systems and network work management products including HP OpenView and IBM Tivoli.

Earlier this year, Ethan Galstad became a member of GroundWork's Open Source Council, which includes the creators and overseers of some of today's most popular open source monitoring and management technologies, including Tobi Oetiker (RRDtool, MRTG, SmokePing), Remo Rickli (NeDi), Ian Berry (Cacti), Matt Massie (Ganglia), Alex Russell (Dojo) and Kees Cook (Sendpage).
