Better Supported Network Management Software
GroundWork Open Source Launches GroundWork Connect
Leader in open source systems and network management software launches portal for streamlined delivery of support, software and news
SAN FRANCISCO—SEPTEMBER 18, 2007—GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), ), the leader in open source systems and network management software, today announced the launch of GroundWork Connect, a robust customer support portal featuring single sign-on, Google search technology, case management, a 3000+ article knowledgebase and much more.
“We wanted to enhance our online support offering so we could provide our customers and partners with the superior support they’ve come to expect,” said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork Open Source. “GroundWork Connect will help them get the most out of GroundWork Monitor. They will be able to download software, have questions answered, search documentation, log cases, and even communicate with other users.”
The new portal, located at www.groundworkconnect.com is a fully managed hosting environment for GroundWork software products as well as peripheral products built by GroundWork, its community, and its partners. Each feature of the portal has been designed to enhance the overall customer support experience. For example, with single sign-on, users have easy access to the entire site, including downloads and support cases. Once logged in, the sophisticated Google-based search feature allows users to zero in on the information they need, whether within the GroundWork library or on an external site. Other enhancements include:
Improved Cases Interface – Users can create, comment on, view and search cases they have created. At any time, they can see the exact status of any given case.
Content Rich, Highly Searchable Knowledgebase – More than 3000 articles, solutions, how-to documents, plugins and white papers, indexed and searchable, in a single location.
New Downloads Manager – In addition to making it easier to download and find the right files, the Downloads Manager provides a convenient download tracking history and simple, click-through license agreement.
Groundwork University Tie-In – With easy access to training schedules and course descriptions, users can manage their schedules and add classes and events to Outlook, iCal or vCal calendars with one click.
Customer Feedback Forum – Users can use the forum to interact with each other, provide comments and contribute feedback on content such as Knowledgebase articles.
“A centralized store of IT management information lets the community pool, categorize, and share their common knowledge and best practices,” said Michael Cote, Analyst at RedMonk. “Products and projects that enable, maintain, and encourage this kind of knowledge base are helping move us from a world where we search on Google and hope we can find the answer to one where troubleshooting and other management devices are easier and faster to find.”
Hundreds of customers use GroundWork Monitor Professional to monitor their systems and networks, taking advantage of the latest open source innovations architected specifically for mid-market and enterprise line-of-business organizations. Additionally, thousands of organizations have downloaded GroundWork Monitor Open Source (http://www.groundworkopensource.com/products/os-overview.html) since its public release in February 2006.
