Press Release

FUJITSU SSL Announces GroundWork Open Source Solution Deployment At Leading Japanese Financial Institution

SAN FRANCISCO—August 21, 2007—GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in open source IT management, today announced the first major Japanese financial institution deployment of FUJITSU SOCIAL SCIENCE LABORATORY LIMITED (FUJITSU SSL) open source network monitoring solution based on GroundWork Monitor Professional. This leading investment bank, with offices throughout the world and capital exceeding 190 Billion Yen, is a key subsidiary of a large Japanese financial group with capital exceeding 650 billion yen (approximately $5.3 billion dollars).

In December of 2006, FUJITSU SSL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu, and GroundWork announced a partnership agreement by which GroundWork Monitor Professional, the company’s flagship open source systems and network monitoring product, would become the basis for FUJITSU SSL’s comprehensive open source solution.

"Compared to expensive legacy proprietary solutions, the higher flexibility and lower cost of open source makes it a better fit for evolving IT environments,” said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork Open Source. “As a leading systems integrator in Japan, FUJITSU SSL utilized GroundWork to help provide their customers with a viable open source IT infrastructure monitoring solution. We are pleased that one of their first customers was such a large and prestigious international firm.”

GroundWork Monitor Professional enables centralized monitoring of the entire IT infrastructure, including Linux, Unix, and Windows servers, applications, databases, and network equipment. Integrating more than 100 open source technologies, GroundWork Monitor Professional allows for analysis of the total IT environment at the enterprise level through features that include performance graphs, executive-level dashboards, and SLA business reports, all at a fraction of the cost of competing IT infrastructure and network monitoring solutions. The GroundWork solution also provides log file analysis and tracking which helps with J-SOX compliance.

“This Japanese financial institution currently uses a variety of proprietary IT management solutions, but they were looking for a cost-effective solution due to the complexity of the environment and the requirement for better usability and visibility into their entire IT infrastructure,” said Hirohisa Sugino, Director of FUJITSU SSL. “FUJITSU SSL’s support along with GroundWork’s network monitoring solution capabilities met their requirements and exceeded their expectations.”

Hundreds of customers worldwide use GroundWork Monitor Professional to monitor their IT infrastructures, taking advantage of the latest open source innovations in a framework architected specifically for mid-market and enterprise line-of-business organizations. All FUJITSU SSL’s Japanese GroundWork installations include support and services from engineers specially trained at GroundWork University. For interested parties, FUJITSU SSL provides a trial CD including a Japanese guide to GroundWork Monitor Professional’s functionality.
