GroundWork Open Source Signs Fujitsu SSL as first Japanese Reseller
Leading Japanese software and solutions provider teams with GroundWork to capitalize on rapidly growing open source IT operations management market
San Francisco, CA — December 19, 2006 — GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (www.groundworkopensource.com), the leader in open source-based IT operations management, today announced a partnership agreement with Japan-based Fujitsu Social Science Laboratory Ltd. (Fujitsu SSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu.
Fujitsu SSL develops and implements technology solutions for many leading Japanese government organizations and businesses.
Under the terms of the agreement, GroundWork Monitor Professional will enrich Fujitsu SSL's comprehensive, open-source solutions.
"Open source, with its higher flexibility and lower cost, is a better fit than proprietary solutions for dynamic IT environments that are operating under budget constraints," said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork Open Source. "This inclusion of an open source IT infrastructure monitoring solution by Japan's leading systems integrator is just one example of the way in which the country is moving towards mainstream support of open source."
Industry analyst firm Gartner has predicted that open source software will continue to grow in Asia, with 60 percent of large and mid-size government agencies using it in their core business processes by 2010, compared to less than 15 percent in late 2004.
GroundWork Monitor Professional enables centralized monitoring of the entire IT infrastructure, including Linux, Unix, and Windows servers, applications, databases, and network equipment. Integrating more than 180 open source technologies, GroundWork Monitor Professional allows for analysis of the total IT environment at the enterprise level through features that include performance graphs, executive-level dashboards, and SLA business reports, all at a fraction of the cost of competing IT infrastructure and network monitoring solutions.
"We see GroundWork's open source product as a disruptive technology in the Japanese IT operations market," said Hirohisa Sugino, Director of Fujitsu SSL. "Open source is on the rise in Japan, and we are pleased to offer a solution like GroundWork Monitor Professional that compliments our portfolio of IT monitoring solutions."
Hundreds of customers around the globe already use GroundWork Monitor Professional to monitor their IT infrastructures, taking advantage of the latest open source innovations in a framework architected specifically for mid-market and enterprise line-of-business organizations.
