GroundWork Appoints CTO

Press Release

Craig Thomas Named Chief Architect and CTO at GroundWork Open Source, Inc.

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., May 23, 2006— GroundWork Open Source, Inc., the leader in open source-based IT operations management solutions, today named Craig Thomas as the company's new Chief Architect and Chief Technology Officer. Thomas - a software industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience - will drive the evolution of GroundWork's IT operations monitoring and management platform.

GroundWork Monitor Professional supports most common network configurations, servers, databases and applications, providing a very simple platform for customer to take advantage of the cost savings of open source-based IT infrastructure monitoring, without any of the heavy lifting that usually goes with open source installation, configuration and maintenance.

"Thomas is another great addition to a GroundWork engineering team whose product has already won more than 130 customers in less than two years," said Ranga Rangachari, CEO of GroundWork. "Craig's proven vision in architecture design and technical leadership, along with his experience working on mission-critical applications, will continue to keep GroundWork's product at the forefront of innovation."

Previously, Thomas was the Chief Technology Officer at Steelwedge Software, an enterprise planning and performance management (EPPM) provider. At Steelwedge, Thomas led the engineering team that developed the product line, and won major customers such as FedEx and SAP. Thomas has also served as Director of Engineering at Sybase, the largest global enterprise software company exclusively focused on managing information from the data center to the point of action.

"Open source is where the real innovation is happening in IT systems management today, so it's exciting to join the company that's leading the charge, said Thomas. "By leveraging and enhancing open source projects to be more consumable for business, GroundWork is effectively disrupting the economics of an IT management space historically dominated by large proprietary vendors offering extremely expensive solutions."
