GroundWork Open Source Announces Microsoft System Center Integration, Joins Microsoft System Center Alliance

New GroundWork Connector Extends Microsoft System Center Operations Manager Coverage

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—September 17, 2009—GroundWork Open Source, Inc. (GWOS, www.gwos.com), the leader in commercial open source systems and network management software, today announced the availability of the GroundWork Connector for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager. GWOS is the first open source company to join Microsoft System Center Alliance as a member.

With more than 1,500 plugins available, GroundWork Monitor integrates with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and extends monitoring and management coverage to the industry’s largest collection of non-Windows systems, applications and devices.

Already deployed in production, the new GroundWork Connector pulls information from Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and displays it within GroundWork Monitor Enterprise. Combining Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager with GroundWork Monitor Enterprise delivers customers a deeper visibility into the availability and performance of all critical infrastructures on a single console. This connector gives insight into applications, databases, virtual machines and network devices that may be running on Linux, Unix, Windows or embedded operating systems.

“Despite being an open source company, about half of the operating systems managed by GroundWork Monitor are running Windows,” said David Dennis, senior director of marketing and business development. “The combination of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and GroundWork Monitor provides a full-featured alternative to traditional ‘Big 4’ systems management frameworks from HP, IBM, CA and BMC, but with greater openness and at a much lower price point.”

To emphasize the strategic importance of this integration, GWOS has also become a member of the Microsoft System Center Alliance. GWOS is the only open source software vendor currently listed in the Member Directory: http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/en/us/alliance-members.aspx
